Screen scraping is a long living technology. It stays in both eras of Web 1.0 and Web 2.0. It shall also stay in era of Web 3.0, the era of semantic web. The technology evolves all the way. Now a few screen scrappers can annotate Web contents semantically.
MetaSeeker is a toolkit of this kind, which defines data schemas for Web pages and tries to build up a semantic layer to complement the lack of service APIs.
