Boost your Internet Speed by About 10%

Windows reserves about 10% of your total bandwidth for downloading software updates etc by default. If you remove this reservation you can get the maximum bandwidth that your ISP offers you. Follow the steps to do this simple tweak:

1> Press the Windows+R key to get the "Run" dialog.
2> Write gpedit.msc and hit enter to open the group policies Editor.

3> Navigate to Computer Configuration> Administrative Templates > Network > Qos Packet Scheduler > Limit Reservable Bandwidth

4> Double click on the Limit Reservable Bandwidth to open the Limit Reservable Bandwidth Properties. Chose enable and assign the value to 10 %. click apply and ok.

Block a website without using third-party software(For Windows XP)

One often needs to block a website or domain in his system due to various reasons or to prevent his/her children from viewing porn or violent or gambling content on the web. This method below describes how you can block websites in your system through an advanced but easy-to-remember method, and without using any other software.

1. Navigate to the etc folder
C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc

2. This folder contains a file "hosts".

3. Open the file "hosts" with notepad. You will see something like this:

4. At the end of the file add 127.0.0.1 website name
For example: 127.0.0.1 www.google.com
if you want to block another website you can write the name below this line
for ex: 127.0.0.1 www.google.com
127.0.0.1 www.yahoo.com

Now restart the web browser and open one of the blocked sites, you will not be able to view the site.
