USB 3.0
Engadget reports on the upcoming USB 3.0 connectivity. The new USB 3.0 interface is slightly different and allows up to a speed of 4.8 Gigabits /s, which would be almost 10 times, the speed of current USB 2.0.
USB 3.0 also supports a new power management feature that removes power when a device is not in use. The USB 3.0 interface is backward compatible and hence all current USB devices would seamlessly work on the new USB 3.0 ports.
The USB 3.0 specification is planned to be finalized in the first half of 2008, commercial products are expected to arrive in 2009 - 2010
