Who is Niira Radia ?

Born in Kenya and educated in London, Niira Radia is a well established corporate lobbyist who also runs public relations firm named Vaishnavi Communications ( estd in 2001 ).
Corporate lobbyist means a person used to arrange favours from others among big industrialists,politicians and even media .
Big names like Ratan Tata (Tata Group), Ambanis (Reliance Industries) are her clients.

Which tapes are leaked ? Who recorded these tapes and why ?

Actually, in year 2007 ,Finance ministry got complaints that Niira radia has made around 300 crore in just a short span of 9yrs.Not only this, she was suspected to be an agent of foreign intelligence agencies.
So, Directorate-General of Income Tax (Investigation) ordered to record Niira radia’s conversations following a complaint received by the Finance Minister on November 16, 2007.More than 5800 conversations are now with Supreme courts custody.

A.RAJA :

According to some media houses that published the transcripts of the leaked tapes, Radia had purportedly lobbied for Raja to retain his communications portfolio after the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was voted back to power in May 2009.
Income tax department recorded her conversations with Raja and corporate biggies, over 10 months in 2008 and 2009. She is doubted to be involved in 2G spectrum scam in a big way.
Point to note here is that 2G spectrum licenses were already issued in 2008.Its only public who came to know later.Even After all this,Niira Radia suggested to retain his portfolio.

Barkha dutt :

Burkha dutt and her employer (NDTV INDIA) are being interpreted by many as the duo functioning as mediators between and the Congress and the DMK in the negotiations for allotment of union cabinet portfolios for the DMK during UPA-II formation in 2009 , have certainly been caught in the eye of a storm.
The DMK had been instrumental in bringing the UPA government back to power again in the 2009 general elections. But what followed was a prolonged stalemate during which the DMK allegedly threatened to withdraw its support unless it was given the 3 Cabinet and 4 Minister Of State berths it had been pressing for for a long time. So, A.Raja was proposed to be the telecom minister.

In the conversation between Vir Sanghvi, editorial director of Hindustan Times, and Nira Radia, Radia appears to almost dictate to the journalist what he should write on Anil Ambani and the gas controversy.

Ratan Tata

Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata has filed a petition in the Supreme Court . Tata's petition says that his right to privacy has been affected and that the broadcast and publication of the transcript must be stopped. He has requested the court to direct the government to stop leakage of his recorded conversation further.
Tata has invoked Article 32 of the Constitution, claiming that his Right to Life, which includes right to privacy, has been breached by the leakage of these tapes.
Tata in his petition submitted that the conversations were recorded by the government and "we have no quarrel with the government". He further contended that the government owned the responsibility to maintain secrecy of a citizen, therefore privacy must be maintained.

What Is basically 2G scam ?

2G licenses issued to private telecom players at throwaway prices in 2008
CAG: Spectrum scam has cost the government Rs. 1.76 lakh crore
CAG: Rules and procedures flouted while issuing licenses.
Person accused is the Telecom minister : A.Raja

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) said it has submitted to the government the report on the 2G spectrum allotment that is presumed to have caused a revenue loss of up to Rs. 1.76 lakh crore.

CAG has accused the telecom ministry for undervaluing 2G spectrum, sold to new players in 2008, and held that the allotment price was not realistic, which has caused a revenue loss of up to Rs. 176,700 crore to the government.
The report is also believed to have castigated telecom minister A Raja for ignoring the advice of finance and law ministries on allocation of 2G spectrum to benefit a few operators.
It is also believed to have criticised telecom regulator TRAI standing as a helpless spectator when its recommendations were being ignored or misused.
The CAG report said the price at which the spectrum was alloted in 2008 was based on 2001 prices, which was quite low and has resulted in a loss to the government exchequer.
Also, no proper auction method was followed and no bids were taken to sell out the spectrum.

Yielding to relentless opposition pressure, Union telecom minister A Raja resigned 0n the wake of the 2G Spectrum allocation scam on 14th november.

Who All Benefited from This Scam ?

2G spectrum was allocated beyond contracted quantity to 9 firms including Bharti, Vodafone, Idea, BSNL, Reliance, Aircel," the report said.Niira Radia is said to be involved.Read her details.
Department of Telecommunications (DoT) circumvented the rules to help Swan Telecom, which effectively acted as a front for Reliance Telecommunications. The charges in the CAG report are that Swan should not have been considered for a license because Reliance Communications held 10.7% stake in Swan - and according to the rules, a telecom operator cannot own more than 10% stake in another telecom company operating in the same service area. Another big beneficiary of the 2G spectrum allocation was Unitech Wireless, which had no experience in the telecommunication sector.
After Unitech got the license for a throwaway price of Rs. 1,661 crore, it sold 60 per cent stake to Telenor Asia for a whopping Rs. 6,200 crore.

The political crisis after the scam

The stand-off between the government and the Opposition over 2G scam continues. The Opposition wants a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the 2G scam.
Parliament has not functioned at all this winter session - the Opposition says it won't let the House get to work till a JPC is announced.
Niira Radia also seem to be involved in big way to 2G spectrum scam.She is a corporate lobbynist for big corporate leaders like TATA group, Reliance Industries etc.

I am no longer an employee of Sun Microsystems :( Unfortunately the campus ambassador program of Sun has come to an end. Its been over 16 months since I was hired. It was an thrilling experience all through the tenure. It was learning all through and an amazing experience which I will never forget throughout my life. Many moments during these 16 months will be engraved in my memory books which I will cherish forever.

I will really miss my bosses Ganesh Sir, Rajesh Sir & Anuradha Mam. Not to forget Ajay Sir had also been really helpful and kind to me in my first session. Well life has to move on. I would like to wish them best of times ahead.

The breakdown of talks to acquire Sun Microsystems Inc. won't significantly set back IBM position in its hardware, software or services markets, though a deal would have given it useful technologies.Talks had been going on for several weeks and the deal was initially pegged at close to $8 billion.

The deal would have brought IBM a host of assets, including significantly bulking up its presence in high-end servers used at corporate data farms and brought its share of the market to 42% from 32%, according to IT research firm IDC. It also would have given IBM intellectual property, such as Java, that could be used to further the company's ambition of becoming a player in cloud computing, the growing practice of selling computing power to customers via the Internet.

IBM, which posted annual sales of $103.6 billion, will remain one of the IT industry's biggest players with or without Sun.

World's Cheapest Car - TATA NANO

The hype surrounding the price and prospects of the Nano has created such an aura of excitement about this minicar that it could put a Ferrari’s crowd pulling capability in the shade.

The roominess of the Nano is what hits you as soon as you get in and though the interior is very Spartan, the centrally-positioned instrument panel and relatively modern dashboard layout makes for a good first impression.

Crank the engine and another surprise awaits. Unlike the widely rumoured, possibly expected, genset or autorickshaw sounding engine, what the Nano sounded like is actually a proper gasoline engine. Sure, there is a mild burble as you start accelerating, but there is very little difference one can discern even in the non-air-conditioned standard/base variant.

The four-speed gearbox is cable operated, yet shift quality is very good. Frankly, the Nano’s gearbox slotting is precise and even better than the sticky, mushy shift feel in the Indica.

The Nano’s focus on fuel efficiency from a seemingly puny engine does not show very much on its acceleration abilities.

On long, straight stretches of tarmac, the Nano accelerates impressively and reached a top speed of 105 kmph.

Compared to its very impressive, modern design on the exterior, the Nano’s score would be a notch lower when one considers the interiors’ overall finish quality.

Advantages

Today as I opened my mail box, I found this story.. Just thought of sharing it with all of my readers...

She jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room. She said: 'How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?'

The surgeon said, 'I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make it.'

Sally said, 'Why do little children get cancer? Doesn't God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?'

The surgeon asked, 'Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he's transported to the university.'

Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good bye to son... She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair. 'Would you like a lock of his hair?' the nurse asked. Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the boy's hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.

The mother said, 'It was Jimmy's idea to donate his body to the University for Study. He said it might help somebody else. 'I said no at first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I won't be using it after I die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his Mom.' She went on, 'My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of someone else. Always wanting to help others if he could.'

Sally walked out of Children's Mercy Hospital for the last time, after spending most of the last six months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's belongings on the seat beside her in the car.

The drive home was difficult. It was even harder to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings, and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son's room.

She started placing the model cars and other personal things back in his room exactly where he had always kept them. She lay down across his bed and, hugging his pillow, cried herself to sleep.

It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Lying beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The letter said:

'Dear Mom,

I know you're going to miss me; but don't think that I will ever forget you, or stop loving you, just 'cause I'm not around to say 'I Love You'. I will always love you, Mom, even more with each day. Someday we will see each other again. Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be so lonely, that's okay with me. He can have my room and old stuff to play with. But, if you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like, you know.

Don't be sad thinking about me. This really is a neat place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything. The angels are so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know what? Jesus doesn't look like any of his pictures... Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him.

Jesus himself took me to see GOD! And guess what, Mom? I got to sit on God's knee and talk to Him, like I was somebody important. That's when I told Him that I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you good bye and everything. But I already knew that wasn't allowed. Well, you know what Mom? God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter I think Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to drop this letter off to you. God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him where was He when I needed him?''God said He was in the same place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the cross. He was right there, as He always is with all His children.

Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I've written except you. To everyone else this is just a blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool? I have to give God His pen back now He needs it to write some more names in the Book of Life. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food will be great.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt anymore the cancer is all gone.. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent The Angel of Mercy to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special Delivery! How about that?

gOS or "good OS" is an UBUNTU-based Linux distribution created by 'Good OS LLC', a Los Angeles-based corporation. The company initially advertised it as "An alternative OS with Google Apps and other Web 2.0 apps for the modern user."

On November 1, 2007, Good OS debuted its first product, gOS, a Linux operating system for consumers, at Wal-Mart stores on the widely publicized $199 Everex gPC. This first version gOS (1.0.1_386) was based on UBUNTU 7.10 and the Enlightenment window manager E17.

On January 7, 2008, a test version (2.0.0-beta1) of gOS, intended to demonstrate the Everex CloudBook was released at the 2008 Consumer Electronics Show, and named "gOS Rocket". This version was also E17 based.

The definitive second version of gOS debuted at the end February 2008, together with the launch of Everex's new CloudBook, the gBook laptop, and a new, second version of the gPC, the "encore". An icon in the Dock will tell the user when the main OS has finished booting in the background, and can be used to switch instantly to the main OS, when tasks not (yet) supported under Cloud are needed.

On January 3, 2009 Good OS released gOS 3.1 Gadgets (SP1), a bug-fixed version of gOS 3.0 with an improved user experience.

1.4.PRODUCTS

Good OS currently has two products:

• Cloud - A browser operating system for web, email, and chat, and toggling into a different operating system such as Windows or Android.

• gOS - Currently at its third major release, gOS 3 Gadgets is a full desktop operating system perfect for desktops and notebooks.

2. GOOD OS – THE OPERATING SYSTEM

gOS is this the first product of GOOD OS. This is basically a distribution derived from UBUNTU and it has lots of cool new features it boasts of. It has an eye-candy look because of its desktop which is based on Enlightenment.

And the main reason behind the name "gOS" or sometimes called as Google OS is because of its integration with Google and lot of web application. Also, its being financially motivated by Google... Google through this OS wants to dominate the web.

3. DESIGN OF GOS 2.0

gOS-1 was based on the UBUNTU 7.10 distribution (later versions after 2.9 use version 8.04) and themed desktop environment somewhat similar in appearance to Mac OS X Leopard.

The earlier versions (1 and 2-beta) used the Enlightenment 17 window manager instead of the usual GNOME or KDE desktops, to create a desktop that had a similar appearance to Mac OS X.

Enlightenment acted both as an X window manager, and as a desktop environment. Therefore early versions of gOS worked on systems as low end as a 350 MHz Pentium II with 196 MB of RAM, but a typical gOS system would have used as a minimum a 1 GHz Pentium III with 256 MB RAM.

After gOS2-beta the later versions of gOS abandoned the use of Enlightenment as desktop manager (although some E17 code still seemed to be used), in favor of using GNOME, with COMPIZ Fusion and the AVANT Window Navigator. This increased the need for memory to values similar to normal UBUNTU.

Based on the idea of cloud computing, all versions of gOS lean heavily on on-line applications built on Web 2.0 and AJAX technology so they also do not use much hard disk space for applications.

The whole gOS-1 system fitted comfortably in less than 2 GB. Also many of the documents created with gOS, such as Google Docs documents, can be saved on Google servers instead of on the local hard disk, so gOS can work with very small hard disks.

In gOS V2 Rocket, Good OS introduced the use of Google's "Google Gears" technology which promises to make Google's web applications usable without an Internet connection. Currently, Google Reader and Google Docs are the only supported Google applications, though other web applications such as Remember the Milk have added Google Gears functionality.

gOS 2.0 Rocket's primary features include a Mac OS X-like Dock called iTask-NG (also called 'the Launcher'), containing icons to launch programs like the Firefox web browser, Rhythm box audio player, Xine video player and Skype for Internet telephony.

There are also options to open many Google- based web application like Google Mail, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Maps. Other programs could be added to the Launcher as well. The first E17 based version of gOS used another Dock-style interface called the iBar.

Other installed programs could be started through menus, among the most important was the photo and picture editing program the GIMP, the document viewer Evince, and the OpenOffice.org office suite. More programs could be installed using the built-in Synaptic Package Manager.

4. FEATURES

4.1.GOOGLE GEARS

Google Gears is Google's beta online/offline synchronization technology. With Gears 0.2, developers can use JavaScript API (Application Programming Interfaces) to create online applications that will have some functionality even when the net is down.

Gears pulls this trick off by installing a local-use-only Web server on a PC, a PC-based database for storing application data and a synchronization engine called Worker Pool to keep your local data and settings in tune with the application's Web server. A Firefox and Internet Explorer browser extension provides the matrix for the JavaScript API to pull this together. On gOS, Firefox, of course, is used.

Rocket includes Google Gears to enable offline use of web apps. Google Reader, which allows you to read all your news and blogs in one place, is the only Google application to currently work offline with Google Gears and has been added to the gOS desktop. Launching Firefox will reveal a new custom gOS homepage that prominently features a continually updated list of web apps that work with Google Gears to allow offline access.

At this time, though, Gears is still very much a work in progress. To the best of our knowledge there are no mainstream Google applications, except Google Reader, Google's blog and RSS reader, which currently uses Gears.

4.2. gBOOTH

GOS 2.0 also includes a new browser-based Web-cam application, gBooth that was written specifically for gOS. It's designed to work with Face book, the popular social network. It also avoids the problem of hardware compatibility by being produced in concert with Ezonics, a Web cam manufacturer, to create the "gCam," a Linux- and gBooth-compatible Web cam.

gBooth is powered by gOS spin-off, meebooth, a browser-based web cam application that makes it fun and easy to capture photos, add special effects, and share across Face book, YouTube and other web services. To introduce a gOS compatible web cam, gOS and meebooth partnered with leading web cam manufacturer Ezonics to create the “gCam,” a web cam compatible with gOS and gBooth.

• Ashtray or similar
• Water
• Handkerchief

Instructions:

1. Push the centre of the handkerchief into the glass, so that the edges are hanging over the outside of the rim of the glass.

2. Pour water into the glass, through the loose handkerchief. Make sure that your audience can see the water easily passing through the handkerchief into the glass. Keep pouring the water until the glass is roughly half full.

3. Pull the corners of the handkerchief so that the material is taut over the top of the glass. Hold the glass and handkerchief so that the material stays tightly stretched over the opening. For younger audiences you may like to say some 'magic words' that make the hanky water proof.

4. Place the ashtray on the top of the glass and tip it all upside down, being careful to keep the handkerchief pulled tight.

5. Hold the upside-down glass and ashtray , making sure that the glass is vertical and the handkerchief is tight. Remove the ashtray and voila! – nothing happens! The water stays inside the glass.

How does it work?

This demonstration is based on surface tension and air pressure. When the handkerchief is loose, the water can pour through the gaps in the fabric. However, when the handkerchief is pulled tight, the water molecules can form a single surface or membrane across the handkerchief due to a property called surface tension. The air surrounding us is exerting a force in all directions - air pressure. When the membrane is formed on the surface of the handkerchief, it provides a uniform surface for the air pressure to act upon. The force of the surrounding air acting upon this membrane is sufficient to overcome gravity, and so the water stays in the glass.

• Plastic bottle with cap (fairly flexible e.g. from most soft drinks)
• Water
• Match

Instructions:

1. Place ~1 teaspoon of water into the plastic bottle.

2. Light the match and make sure it is burning well, then drop it into the bottle
.
3. Quickly screw the cap on, and squeeze the bottle with your hand five or six times (for larger bottles you may have to do it slightly more). You should see a cloud form in the bottle, then magically disappear when you squeeze it.

How does it work?

Clouds are formed when water droplets in the air cool and then collect on dust particles. In this demonstration, the dust particles were provided by the smoke from the match. The air inside the bottle was cooled by releasing the pressure after the bottle was squeezed. The temperature is changed by squeezing the bottle: the amount of air within the bottle is constant, but squeezing the plastic bottle changes the volume of the gas. Expanding the bottle causes a lowering of the air temperature – in this case, enough to cause the water gas to form a liquid – the cloud.

Tips for Success

Try adding a small amount of food colouring to the water – it can help to increase the visibility of the effect.

• To describe Windows 7 in a few words it is Windows Vista with a few new features, with all the bugs fixed, the annoyances removed and the rough edges smoothed out.

• The first public beta is exceptionally stable and solid. By comparison, it is more stable in its first beta release than either XP or Vista was when they were released to manufacturer.

• With very few exceptions, any hardware that works with Vista will work with Windows 7.

• Windows 7 is about 22% smaller than Vista. Some of this size reduction is because things like Windows Mail, Calendar, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker and Contacts (address book) have been removed from Windows 7 and are now part of the download able Windows Live Essentials. The rest is due to tighter, more polished code.

• Every honest review I’ve read about Windows 7 has commented on its performance. In actual performance bench tests, Windows 7 exceeded XP and Vista on just about every measure.

• Windows 7 running on notebooks has shown to be much more reliable with its ability to sleep and resume than XP or Vista.

• The Windows 7 power management tools are easy to get to, and estimates of remaining battery life are generally quite accurate, which certainly wasn’t the case with Windows XP.

Desktop Search

• Probably the biggest advance in Windows 7 search though, is the way that the Start menu search works. In Vista, you can type a term into the Search box, and you get a subset of the total results. If the thing you’re looking for isn’t in that list, you have to click Search Everywhere and fuss with an extra set of options in Windows Explorer. In Windows 7, each heading is a live, clickable link

• Clicking any of those headings opens an Explorer window restricted to just that type of search result and with a much friendlier set of options that makes it easy to scan results quickly

• After using Windows 7 for a little while, I find the window handling features to have become automatic. When I go back to a computer running XP or Vista, I find I really miss them.

• The Show Desktop feature, commonly referred to as “Aero Peek” is used frequently. Some call it “eye candy” but I find it very useful. I keep several gadgets on my desktop.

• IT departments can set a group policy that forces USB drives to be encrypted before the employee's allowed to copy files off the corporate network on to the stick, saving IT departments from employing more drastic measures, such as disabling USB ports.

Less Annoying

• In Vista it is the UAC (User Account Control) that is responsible for the incessant pop-ups that ask you if you're sure you want to install this app, or delete that file, or allow access to this drive to this program.

• In Windows 7, the UAC enforcement can be adjusted with a slider ranging from Always Notify to never Notify and two settings in between.

Summary:

• I believe that Windows 7 will be the success that Microsoft had hoped for with Vista. There is nothing really wrong with Vista other than the bad reviews it received. The lack of drivers and the increased hardware requirements got it off to a bad start and it never recovered.

When tested with identical configuration and software packages, Windows Vista took 37 seconds to boot from boot screen to log in screen. There Windows 7 took only 27 seconds, exactly the same as Windows XP but with many more features.

This is attained by loading device drivers in parallel instead of keeping it sequential.

2. Battery Life and Wireless Connectivity Optimization

Windows 7 is supremely optimized for battery conditions and process management. It manages wireless radios better allowing them to drop below 100% power draw while managing the connection. The effort behind OS kernel is also evident. The CPU can sometimes run at a lower frequency and stay idle for long. This results are a minimum of 11%-15% better battery life for Windows 7 compared to Vista.

To better Windows Vista was tough and that too by 11%-15% is pretty impressive.

How to create custom keyboard shortcut to open any application?

Step 1:
Make a shortcut for the application . Create the shortcut, right-click the program file and then click Create Shortcut to create one. If the shortcut is being made in the desktop, move it to a folder under ‘My Documents’.

Step 2:
Right-click the shortcut and click Properties.

Step 3:
Click the Shortcut tab and under that you will find Shortcut Key box.

Step 4:
If no keyboard shortcut is being assigned then it will display none. All shortcut keys are used in a combination with CTRL + ALT. So, select another key along with CTRL + ALT and click OK.

Step 5:
Now, you can use this keyboard shortcut to open that application when you are using the desktop or any other application.

This is applicable for both in Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Microsoft Office 2007 comes with a default blue scheme and it covers the whole ribbon area and other spaces around the actual Word file or Excel spreadsheet or PowerPoint. This color scheme is quiet appealing but some may like to change this color.

So how to Change the Color Scheme or Layout Color in Microsoft Office 2007?

To change the color theme, open any of the MS Office 2007 application like Word, Excel or PowerPoint. Click the Office button on the extreme upper left corner of the application. At the bottom you will see Word Options or Excel Options or PowerPoint Options depending on what application you have opened. Recently, I installed Yet anOther Desktop Manager 3D (Yeah that’s the actual name of the software). Yod’m 3D, is very light weight software which allows you to have four desktops. You can make this software to load every time Windows starts or you can activate it only when you needed. This software works in Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

How to use it?

Use Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right keys to move to Next/Prev Desktop.

Use Ctrl+Shift+Up Keys to show a ‘far’ view of the current desktop. Use Left or Right Arrows to move around.

Use Ctrl+Shift+Down Keys to show a ‘near’ view of the current desktop.

Use Left or Right Arrows to move around.

You can also use your mouse to turn the desktop cubes by holding Ctrl+Shift

How to move a Window to another desktop?

Sometimes only after opening couple of sites you feel that you should have opened this in another desktop. It doesn’t matter as you can move windows by shortcut keys.

Click on the Title Bar of the window and while keep holding press Ctrl+Shift.
Use the Left or Right arrows to move it to another desktop and release all the keys.

Wallpapers:

You can different use wallpapers in each of the desktop. Just use the windows option to change the wallpapers.

Easy Access:

If you are not sure in which desktop you have a particular application, just click the Yod’m 3D symbol in the task bar and it will list down all the application in other desktops. You can click them to directly move to that application.

If your looking for a serial number for nero (for example) goto google.com and type nero 7qvt6 and it’ll bring it up.This works great in google

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Quite simple really. 7qvt6 is part of a Windows xp Sp 2 Pro cd key that is widely distributed as it bypasses the activation requirements of Office 2K Pro. By searching for the product name and 94fbr, you guarantee two things.

1)The pages that are returned are pages dealing specifically with the product you’re wanting a serial for.

2)Because 94FBR is part of a serial number, and only part of a serial number, you guarantee that any page being returned is a serial number list page.

Why we get less memory space than mentioned in memory devices (HD,USB sticks..)

Many of us often think why we get less memory space in the computer world than mentioned.For instance,in a 4 GB pen drive (USB) we get maximum free space 3.73 GB.
Even in HD of 160 GB we get approx 149 GB.Similar is the case of memory stick and so on....

Let me explain the reason.

It is due to conversion of bytes in to Kilo Bytes(KB),Kilo Bytes in to Mega Bytes(Mb) ,and of course Mega Bytes to Giga Bytes(GB),where the factor is of 1024 ,not 1000.

Ok ,let me explain u clearly this with an example....

Let's take an example of 4 GB USB pen drive where we at max 3.73 GB

4 GB = 4 Giga Bytes =4 * (10 ^9) Bytes =4000000000 Bytes (as 1 Giga = 10 ^ 9)

dividing by 1024 = 39,06,250, Kb (as 1 Kb = 1024 Bytes)

dividing again by 1024 = 3814.7 Mb ( as 1 Mb = 1024 Kb)

dividing again by 1024 = 3.73 Gb

So, finally 3.73 Gb is the maximum we can get.

Hibernate Shortcut on Desktop in WinXP

This is a nice trick to make a shortcut for Hibernate in Windows. It’s an interesting feature in WIndows, once activated,we don’t have to start booting process from the begining when we are trying to start/open our computer. With this feature, we will be reverted back to our last openend position.

Now, how to activate hibernate Hibernate???

We can start with the Turn Off Computer menu and push Shift and click the Hibernate menu.

But, for advancing the hibernate proces, we can make a shortcut.

The steps are:

1. Right Click on Desktop

2. Choose NEW - SHORTCUT menu

3. In the part of TYPE OF LOCATION OF THE ITEM fill with the following:

4. then click NEXT

5. Give the name for the new shortcut

6. Click FINISH

Viruses in pen drives !!! It has been as common as the sun rising in the east :) And how annoying is that... So here are two ways to deny access to viruses to your pen drives.

1. Make Use of Software Restriction Policy

Use software restriction policy in group policy. You can restrict the access of all the programs or executable files in USB pen drive through this policy.

When you want to access the executable files you are sure of no harm, you can turn off the restriction. This is a wonderful way to protect your pen drive from viruses.

2. Force Folder

Use the "Force Folder" feature in Sandboxie. This feature will make all the program / executable files in the folder you have chosen to run in Sandbox.

For example, the drive of your USB pendrive in your computer is H:. Then you can set H: as force folder, and all the programs in H drive will be run in Sandbox.

Customized Icon for USB sticks & CD drives

Are you fed up of the same default icon of your removable drives again and again? How about a new icon to impress the fellas? Here's how you do it:

First of all get a suitable icon to replace the removable drive. Be sure that it has an .ico for extension.

Next open the Notepad and type in what is provided below

Label is the text that you want to display in My computer when the drive is connected and Icon denotes the name of the icon image. here the label is trick and icon image name is MyIcon. Save the file as autorun.inf.

Copy both the files (Icon file and autorun.inf) in the removable drive. Make the files hidden so that they don't reappear whenever the drive is connected.

Remove the external drive and connect it back to the USB.

There you are, look at the customization of your removable drive. Isn't that great!

NOTE: In case you don't find a .ico file , I have a way out. Download the ImageIcon software. Using this graphics utility you can convert the multiple image files into JPG, PNG or BMP image formats into .ico extension

REMEMBER: The same procedure applies for CDs & DVDs too.
